1.Did you always know you were my dog?
Yes, no, yes.
2. How do you feel, having no ultimate control over
your life, having your own decisions be meaningless?
I have control, I could pee now, or later, or I could
poop.
3. But if you poop at the wrong time, if you poop at
home, for example, then you get your face in your
poop, I know you don't like that.
If I didn't like it I wouldn't do it where you could
see it.
4. I see your whimpering expression, your struggle
when I try to catch you and show you the wrong you've
done. You resist me.
Has my resistance ever actually succeeded?
5. I?m bigger, I?m stronger, I give you food. You are
dependent on me.
And what if I ran off right now?
6. I would run through the city after you no matter
where you went. You know that I love you.
And if I ran off right now under the wheels of a car,
would you blame
yourself for my death?
7. I would blame you for running off, and myself for
not holding the
leash tight enough. I would share the blame
throughout my life.
Throughout your next dogs.
8. I have no next dogs planned, and I don't appreciate
the sentiment,
since all it means is that you are on the prowl for a
new owner. Your
plan to run off is clearly not intended to end in
death, but to be
found by someone else and never returned.
Return isn't an issue when escape hasn't been
attempted; I've been most successful at constriction.
9. If I know you are trying to escape then it becomes
a game more than emancipation. I control your house,
therefore I control your escape routes.
You're so sure of yourself that it suggests some
fundamental doubt.
10. Denial isn't even worth bringing up. You
continually deny the fact that you love your
imprisonment.
My prison is not you, it's this urbanization, my need
for a sweater and processed food.
11. You love me too, and you show it to me just by
sticking around?
By sticking around, by not protesting.
12. But threatening to protest, threatening to poop on
the floor or to
run off. You love me and I love you yet you taunt me
with denying the
love that we supposedly share.
We share only the love that you make possible, my
protests are meant
only to highlight that love.
13. I don't need threats in order to appreciate the
love that I know is
there, I just need a nice walk, like the one we're on
now. And if you
ran off, I would be sad, and everything beyond that is
not your concern
because the only thing that concerns you is the result
of your action.
I have taken no action.
14. You have spoken, and speaking is action. Your
words are enough to make me doubt you and myself, and
you will have to suffer the
consequences of the doubt you have kindled.
I need to pee; can we go over there so I can pee?
15. You've got some messages you've got to smell over
at the hydrant? Some bitches leaving their address
for you?
Secret dog messages should not be a concern since they
relate to an experience you can never be part of
anyway.
16. Here you go, I've released your leash, go pee
wherever you want, go run off wherever you want. The
warden has left the front gate
unlocked.
You know I just want to pee, and then I want to return
right back to
you.
17. I know, so do it. Do it and return to me.
Ruff ruff.
